I Thought I Was Just Tired… Until I Realized My Glow Was Gone

August 02, 20252 min read

If we were sitting across from each other right now — messy bun, oversized sweatshirt, coffee in hand — here’s what I’d tell you:

“I didn’t even realize how bad I felt… until I started to feel better.”

For a while, I chalked it up to life.

Running a household.
Balancing schedules.
Work. Work. Work.
Aging.
Stress.
All the things.

But behind the “I’m fine” smile?

I was tired all the time. I napped constantly on my days off.
I’d forget simple things like words I've always known or where I put my keys.
I’d get so annoyed at my husband for breathing too loud.
I stopped feeling like myself — and worse, I stopped believing I could get that version of me back.

What changed?

I stopped accepting survival mode as my baseline.
I stopped brushing off my symptoms as “just stress.”
And I started learning what my midlife body actually needed.

It wasn’t more hustle.
It wasn’t another detox.
It was support. Real, clean, nurse-informed support.

I am a nurse after all. I dove deep into researching what was happening and what could give me relief.
It wasn't drugs or surgery (even though that's what doctors kept offering).

That’s when I found my tool kit.

And no — it didn’t solve everything overnight.
But the daily energy shift? The improved sleep? The clearer mood? The confidence?

It felt like someone flipped the lights back on inside me.
Like I could finally show up to life again — not just get through it.

Now, I help other women in the messy middle do the same.
I'm not keeping any of it secret! Between this blog and my website, you have access to all the things I do to feel full of life.

Because we’re not meant to fade into the background.
We’re meant to take up space.
To feel vibrant again.
To live like we’re not just checking boxes but choosing joy.

I follow an anti-inflammatory diet (like the Mediterranean diet or Galveston diet), and I practice intermittent fasting. I use Arbonne supplements. I exercise every day, even if it's only a walk with the dogs wearing my weighted vest. And I am trialing hormone replacement therapy with my doctor. I added these things one by one to my routine, and it wasn't until I was doing all four that I felt my best.

Here’s what I know for sure:

Less joint pain. Better sleep. Improved memory.
No more getting up off the couch like a crippled woman or melting down randomly at work.

You’re not too late.
You’re not too much.
And you’re definitely not alone.
